There's just something so breathtakingly beautiful and regal about a Sikh Wedding! Geness and Ashish were married over the long weekend here in London, Ontario – first at the London Sikh Gurdwara on Clarke Road, then the Hindu Cultural Centre down the road. The thing with Sikh ceremonies is that they are held early in the day – meaning, an early start! It was no different with our 6am start at the Doubletree by Hilton on York Street – and boy, what a gorgeous sunrise while Geness had her makeup done!
As their wedding was spanning two days, and we were unfortunately already booked the following day, we were only able to document day 1 of Geness & Ashish's wedding – their reception was the following day. But wow – what a gorgeous ceremony full of colour, love and laughter! These two are absolute sweethearts, so considerate, and very funny!
After their ceremonies, we zipped across town to Civic Gardens for their full wedding party photos, getting them in just before the rain started and we wrapped up for the day. We absolutely love shooting there – it's usually not too busy, has such a wonderful variety of backdrops, and one of my favourite bridges in the city!
My absolute favourite thing about Sikh ceremonies has to be the colours and the music! So much richness to both, it all comes together as joyful and epic – a celebration of the senses! Plus, of course – the food. Oh...the food. As colourful and spicy as the rest of the day, food plays such a big role in Sikh ceremonies; nourishment of both body and soul.
So, without further ado, have a trip through Geness & Ashish's gorgeous Sikh Wedding Ceremony! Click any image to open a big slideshow to swipe through! xoxo S&C
